Bio-based Value Chain (BBVC) Case Study Screening Tool
As part of the INFORMBIO project work has been undertaken to identify feedstock-specific bio-based value chain opportunities for Ireland. This has been supported by work undertaken in INFORMBIO to screening available biomass to understanding some promising feedstock opportunities. Building on this the project undertook a screening of white and grey literature, as well as research project and repositories to identify some key value chain opportunities.
The case studies presented here, and elaborated further in Deliverable 3.1, provide key information to stakeholders who are considering sustainable biomass valorisation opportunities. Information, where available, on aspects such as relevant feedstocks, technology readiness level (TRL) indicating market-readiness, the problem that it resolves, a description of the value chain (including products and technologies), the environmental, social and market deployment considerations, as well as stakeholders, is provided.
A list of the selected opportunities is provided in the BBVC Case Study Screening Tool below. To access more information, simply click on the value chain in question and it will bring you to a dedicated case study page. In case you wish to focus only on a particular feedstock, please click the feedstock drop down menu to selected and search the relevant value chains. Similarly, in case users wish to focus on a particular market readiness level, you can use the TRL drop down menu to search for those value chains at a relevant TRL. TRL levels vary between 1 and 9, with higher numbers indicating a closer market readiness (closer to commercialisation). It should be noted that the value chains include within this repository represents a limited set of opportunities that may be adopted. The catalogue of BBV Case Studies can be downloaded and viewed in more details within this report.
