Creating value from poultry manure for energy and electricity generation to meet the energy needs of farm (Poultry manure to energy solutions)
BHSL is an Irish Agri-tech company that has developed a unique, patented system (Fluidized Bed Combustion) to convert the untreated poultry manure into energy for heating, cooling and electricity generation to meet the energy needs of the farms. The Fluidized Bed Combustion (FBC) is ideal for low value, variable moisture content fuels and is recognized for its ability to minimize harmful emissions and to maximizecombustion efficiency. The by-product of this process is an easily transportable, high P&K fertilizer. This low-cost abundant heat allows the poultry producer to manage relative humidity through an optimal ventilation philosophy in very bio-secure conditions, which drives the production efficiency and improves bird welfare. Manure moisture content should be less than 45% for high combustion yield.
BHSL fluidized bed reactor uses combustion technology to convert poultry slurry into heat energy with minimum emission (SOX, NOX) to maximize combustion efficiency. BHSL uses automatic conveyor which transports manure in the automatic screw feeding chamber attached to side of fluidized bed reactor. The fuel handling programmable logic controller (PLC) ensures continuous mode of operation and fuel is collected which is used for on farm applications at a small scale
The global chicken manure fertilizers market was valued at US$ million in 2022 and is projected to reach US$ million by 2029
Using poultry manure as a fuel is a zero-carbon activity. Using manure in place of fossil fuels on a farm reduces the carbon footprint of the operation
Improved animal welfare and increased livability, Reduced risk of bird diseases, eliminated manure disposal costs and penalties, Attracts green subsidies and low-cost green finance, Secondary source of revenue to poultry farmers.
